Even though it has been two years, we still love this photo of Francis and Mamma sewing in the last few rays of winter light. We started in a bullet ridden school house without doors, windows, electricity, or even a toilet (it was just a short walk away).
Francis came every morning by 5 am to help with our breakfast, and she stayed every night trying to perfect her stitches. She has made her living by gardening and is used to heavy, manual labor. Well, she was. Now, she is one of our top tailors and our in house machine repair guru.
What a difference two years can make.
