About

The Common Thread Collective was formed in March of 2011 to empower women living in poverty through using an age old life skill – sewing.

It goes deeper than sewing, our women come from a long background of abuse, prostitution and desperation.  The life skills we educate our participants with in sewing, tailoring, needlework and pattern making compliment their further education in basic subjects they were not exposed to due to lack of education – math, english, geometry, finance and economics.

In the wake of the tragic manufacturing accidents in Bangladesh and Pakistan, we aspire to create the largest, fair trade, not for profit manufacturing base to create a friendly and safe production environment while assuring jobs and continued training for all of our program participants.

We are a tax exempt organization under the governing rules of a 501(c)3 regulations, DLN – 17053331341002, EIN 45-1020351.
